Interview after the match against Kateryna Kozlova
After defeating Kateryna Kozlova of Ukraine (6:3, 6:3) in the second round of the Dubai tournament, Ekaterina Makarova complained about some difficulties at the beginning of the second set. According to the tennis player, she showed active tennis, Boris Panitskiy informs from Dubai exclusively for the Sport-Express. Ekaterina Makarova's next opponent will be Zarina Diyas from Kazakhstan.
– Your opponent is ranked No. 132 in the world and is not well-known by the general public. How did you prepare for the match?
– Nastya Myskina who assists me as a coach at this tournament watched her match against Watson of Great Britain yesterday. And I also watched some parts of that match on TV. I am happy that I managed to show reasonably good level in general. After all, a starting match at any tournament is always a bit uptight. Although we arrived in Dubai beforehand and I “adjusted” myself to the local courts in general, but you never know how the match may turn. I had some difficulties at the beginning of the second set today. But I coped with them playing actively.
– I guess, you know Zarina Diyas from Kazakhstan, ranked No. 33 in the world, whom you will face next better, don't you?
– Yes, I do. I played against her at the US Open last year. She is a pushy, active tennis player, she prefers quite flat shots. We had a good match in New York that I won 6:2, 6:4. The courts are quite fast in Dubai as well. That is why I should be prepared for almost the same play.
